How To

10 tips for a healthy lifestyle

How to keep a healthy lifestyle

We live in a fast world where we don't get enough sleep, eat too much, drink too much alcohol and smoke cigarettes. We don't properly care for our bodies.

When you work full-time, it is difficult to maintain a healthy diet and exercise program. It is even more difficult if you feel stressed. Then, your mind tells yourself that it cannot handle this situation any more so we feel guilty about it and give up.

If you feel something is wrong with the body, it is probably. Consult a doctor immediately to get his/her opinion on your current condition. If there are no signs of something abnormal, stress from your job could be the cause.

Some people think that they are lucky because their jobs allow them to go to gym regularly or they have some friends who help them to keep fit. These people are truly lucky. They don't have problems. They managed everything. I wish that everyone could be like them. Unfortunately, most people don't know the best ways to balance their personal and professional lives. Many people have bad habits that lead to illnesses such as heart disease and diabetes.

Here are some tips to help improve your lifestyle.

  1. Get 7 hours of sleep minimum and 8 hours maximum each night. This means sleeping properly and not consuming caffeine in the hour before bed. Caffeine blocks melatonin hormones, making it difficult to fall asleep. Also, ensure your bedroom is darkened and clean. If you work late at night, make sure you have blackout curtains.
  2. Take a balanced breakfast. Avoid sugary products, fried food and white breads. Include fruits, vegetables, and whole grain for lunch. Afternoon snacks are recommended to be rich in protein and fiber, such as nuts, seeds, beans, fish and dairy products. Avoid junk food like chips, candies and cakes.
  3. Drink plenty of water - Most of us don' t drink enough water. Water can help us burn more calories, keep our skin supple and young, flush out toxins and improve our digestion. Aim to drink six glasses of fluids daily to lose weight more quickly. Checking the color of urine is a good way to gauge your hydration. Dehydrated is yellow, orange dehydrated slightly; normal pink urine; overhydrated red urine; and clear urine indicates highly-hydrated.
  4. Exercise - Regular activity can help increase energy and decrease depression. Walking is an easy way to improve your mood. Even though it may look easy, walking requires focus and concentration. Your brain must focus on walking and breathe slowly and deeply. A 30 minute walk at a moderate pace for about 100 calories can burn between 100-150 calories. Start slow, and then increase the pace. To prevent injuries, be sure to stretch after exercising.
  5. Positive thinking is vital for mental health. When we think positively, we create a happy environment inside ourselves. Negative thoughts cause anxiety and drain our energy. Focus on what you want and do the things that will keep you motivated. Break down the tasks into smaller steps if you feel overwhelmed by all the new tasks. Remember that you are bound to fail sometimes but just pick yourself up and start again.
  6. Say No. We can often be so busy that it is hard to see how much of our time we are wasting on useless tasks. It is important that you learn to say no when necessary. However, saying "no", does not necessarily mean you are rude. Saying No is simply saying that you cannot take care of something right now. There will always be another way to finish the job. Be clear about your boundaries. Ask for help. Oder delegate this job to someone else.
  7. Take care to your body. Keep an eye on your diet. A healthier diet will help boost your metabolism, and you can lose extra weight. You should avoid eating too many oily and heavy foods, as they tend to increase cholesterol. A good tip is to have three meals and two snacks daily. You should consume around 2000 - 2500 calories per day.
  8. Meditation is an excellent stress reliever. Sitting still with closed eyes allows your mind to relax. This exercise will improve your ability to think clearly and help you make decisions. Meditation can help you be calmer, happier, and more productive.
  9. Don't skip breakfast. Breakfast should be the most important meal. Skipping breakfast may cause you to eat more at lunchtime. As long as you have breakfast within one hour of waking up, it is not too late. Eaten breakfast will boost your energy and help you manage your hunger.
  10. Make sure you eat clean food. Food has a greater impact on your mood than you realize. Avoid junk food and other food items that have artificial or preservative ingredients. These products can cause acid reflux and increase cravings. Vitamins and minerals found in fruits and vegetables can improve your overall health.
